Larbert-based Falcon Foodservice Equipment - the UK`s leading manufacturer and supplier of quality food service products and part of Aga Foodservice Equipment - has today announced plans to invest £9.3 million into a new manufacturing facility, in Carronshore, Falkirk.

Falcon`s relocation to the new 160,000sq ft purpose built factory - scheduled for June 2003 - marks an important step in the company`s business plan. The move from the current Larbert site heralds a new era in Falcon`s already highly successful 75 year history, and reinforces the company`s market leading status in the UK prime cooking equipment sector.

The new Carronshore site will equip Falcon Foodservice Equipment with the necessary resource to accommodate its aggressive growth plans. It is also expected to bring about further employment within the area in the medium term.

Falcon`s Managing Director, Richard Cotter, revealed his ambitions for the new site: "We currently employ over 320 people at our Larbert plant, and our relocation to Carronshore highlights the significant investment made by the Aga Foodservice Group whilst recognising the exciting development potential of the Falcon brand."

Throughout the planning of the new facility, Falcon welcomed significant levels of funding support from the Scottish Executive and Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley.

William McGrath, CEO of the Aga Foodservice Group, commented: "On a group level, AFE is continually developing and reassessing its business portfolio and product offerings in order to provide customers with a full service, one-stop-shop solution for all of their foodservice needs.

"This investment, and the long term strategic plans that it represents, reflects the increasingly prominent role that the AFE Group is assuming within the marketplace."

Lorna Jack, Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley, continued: "We are delighted that Falcon Foodservice Equipment is doing so well in what is a highly competitive industry.

"The company is a great example of an indigenous manufacturing company at its best. Working with our partners, we have helped Falcon Foodservice Equipment identify a new site for its expansion programme and I look forward to seeing the company go on to even greater success in the future."

Construction of the new manufacturing facility will be co-ordinated by project managers Doig and Smith, of Glasgow.
